November 28, 2020/Spoiling Star Wars

The Hersey brothers discuss the second season of the Disney+ hit series The Mandalorian once more!

This week, the boys revel in the splendor of the Carl Weathers-directed episode.  We go off on tangents regarding: Navarro civics, cookie theft(s), safety regulations in the Empire, and proper labeling of electronics for optimum operational efficiency.

WARNING:  In case the episode title was not self-explanatory: this show contains spoilers for the Mandalorian.  If you have not yet watched it, listen to this later!

The Mandalorian returns to Navarro to hang out with his friends from Season 1. Eric and Todd were happy to see the familiar faces and familiar landscapes. Navarro might not be their most favorite planet, but it now becomes one of the most familiar. What other planets and locations are prominently featured in Star Wars?

Tatooine

Visit Tatooine

How could we start with anything else?

A harsh desert world orbiting twin suns in the galaxy’s Outer Rim, Tatooine is a lawless place ruled by Hutt gangsters. Many settlers scratch out a living on moisture farms, while spaceport cities such as Mos Eisley and Mos Espa serve as home base for smugglers, criminals, and other rogues.

Kashyyyk

Some Wookies.

If you love Wookies or Holiday Specials, Kashyyyk is your planet.

Kashyyyk is the Wookiee homeworld, covered in dense forest. While Wookiees build their homes in the planet’s trees, they are not a primitive species, and Kashyyyk architecture incorporates sophisticated technology.

Alderaan

We all know Alderaan – even though we probably couldn’t pick it out of a lineup. I bet it looks like Earth, but what do I know? I’m just a pseudo-author on this TodCast website.

If ever one needed an example of the irredeemable evil that was the Empire, turn to the shattered remains of Alderaan. An influential world, Alderaan was represented in the waning days of the Republic by such venerated politicians as Bail Antilles and Bail Organa.

Ahch-To

Todd hiding out at Ahch-To.

The planet that sounds like a sneeze was a staple of the newest Skywalker films.

Ahch-To was a planet mostly covered in water, with numerous rocky islands blanketed with green trees located in the Unknown Regions. It was the birthplace of the Jedi Order and held the ancient Jedi texts.

Mandalore

We are discussing a show called the Mandalorian, so why not take a look at the planet.

Once a glorious world, the surface of Mandalore was laid waste by war, leading Duchess Satine Kryze to renounce the planet’s violent history and declare neutrality in the Clone Wars.
