Todd and Eric did not have a topic predetermined for today, so Todd forced one out of Eric spontaneously. Witness the spectacle of Eric telling of his nocturnal YouTube habits, which spawns into a conversation about Route 66.
Warning: There are two instances where Todd goes into “Professor Makes-Things-Up-As-He-Goes”…purely for your enjoyment and NOT for your education.
The episode starts off by Eric vaguely referencing a YouTuber that discusses cities and states. He didn’t know the name then. Luckily, we know the name now!
Eric recently discovered Nick Johnson and his glorious YouTube Channel. Nick has over 200,000 subscribers and is ranked 21,000 in America (Social Blade YouTube Ranking). He provides quality 7-15 minute videos discussing states and cities throughout the US. He often ranks these locations for various things.
All types of countdown goodness.
He has a good sense of humor and reminds Eric of Michael Ian Black…so we imagine Todd would also approve.
Check out his YouTube Channel and Subscribe if you enjoy.
The whole premise of The TodCast was Todd Hersey discussing various topics on his way to work. He would record these conversations and we would all sit in and listen. Many of the early episodes were stories about his life and times. Todd asked for suggested topics and soon came some impromptu challenges.
Listeners would send in voicemails, emails, tweets, or messages suggesting ridiculous topics – the most famous was American Girl Dolls. The challenge was to make an entire episode with Todd’s opinions, facts, and stories about ‘said topic’. Although he might not have realized it, this was the beginning of Professor Todd.
This episode might be the start of what Eric and Todd refer to as Professor Todd. Eric will ask Todd a question and require an answer. Todd cannot simply say – “I Don’t Know”. He will then go into a series of stories providing a solid (yet not factual) explanation and answer to the question.
We get Professor Todd explaining the origins of Route 66 in this very episode.
Todd has been to Cadillac Ranch. The actual Todd, not Professor, explains to Eric and listeners exactly what you can expect when visiting this attraction.
Cadillac Ranch is a public art installation and sculpture in Amarillo, Texas, USA. It was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Doug Michels, who were a part of the art group Ant Farm.

Todd and family made it to Cadillac Ranch and did their fair share of spray painting.
Note: it is honestly a pure coincidence that this episode is the 66th of the season, this was not planned at all.
This episode has been staying up all night watching YouTube and dreaming of car culture since August 22, 2020.
