Music Ranked gets the royal treatment as Eric and Todd discuss Queen, Freddie Mercury, and the band that is so much more than just a Wayne’s World sound bite. From a 45 that Todd played in his room as a youth to the recent biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, the Hersey brothers go down memory lane to a rockin’ soundtrack.

If this podcast was recorded several years earlier, the Hersey Boys wouldn’t have started the show off by talking about Freddie Mercury’s biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. But since this movie was released and viewed by both Todd and Eric, it seems like we should develop a wonderful Listicle for the best Music Biopic Films.
Top Music/Bands Biopic Films (in no particular order)
We could check out the IMDB pages for both Todd and Eric to see what films they’ve seen and what they’ve enjoyed, but we won’t be doing that much work today.
The Doors (1991)
Let this be a look into the future. Both Todd and Eric recently viewed this Jim Morrison biopic and discuss in an upcoming episode of Music Ranked! The Doors.
Ray (2004)
If it weren’t for Pepsi Commercials would Todd and Eric know who Ray Charles was? Maybe. Not sure if either Hersey watched Ray, but it did receive a lot of press coverage in 2004. It should be on our list.
Almost Famous (2000)
Does this movie count as a rock biopic? Probably not, but that won’t stop us from featuring it here. Director and writer Cameron Crowe created this story based on his experiences covering famous bands for Rolling Stone magazine. I’m sure Eric and Todd would have a few albums by fictional band Stillwater if they were the real thing.
The Pianist (2002)
You may not know who Wladyslaw Szpilman (and frankly neither do I), but there is a critically acclaimed movie about him. Feel free to watch and fill us in.
This is Spinal Tap (1984)
Is Spinal Tap a real band? I have one of their albums – so I say YES. This fantastic mockumentary has been quoted for years and was one of the first (and best) of its kind.
